Okay, most people say, to sex yellow labs, that the males are bigger, and more colorful. Well, i have a obvservation that may make it easier to sex them. My biggest fish, is a male, and he is probably over 3 inches, dark yellow, dark black fins. Well, there are 3 others in the tank, asll smaller than him. They are a lighter yellow, lighter black fins, and their throats are white. Could the white throats be a indicator of sex?

There are variations of color especially at different collection points in the lake. Some with black on the top fin and some w/out. The spots aren't a good way to guess sex. It's a 50/50 shot.

i know my female mouth brooders are all white on their underside of their mouths. probably due to the stretching their mouths do whilst holding the babies. i noticed this myself when i had my peacocks holding. might be onto something

When mine were holding their buccal cavities were white on the underside as well. Not so much when they aren't holding.
