have you tried [mod edit; link to unreliable site removed]

That's a good site to use if you're unsure of the stocking of your tank.

I don't know anything about any of the fish you're planning on having. Only the corydoras.

yea i used it but i wasnt sure of the outcome i wanted to hear it from a fishkeeper not a machine

Why is that site not on the banned list any more, where the name is blanked out? Current mods/admin?

This stocking calculator has flaws that convince inexperienced fishkeepers that certain fish are fine together when they usually are not and that it is acceptable to squash fish into insufficient sized tanks like "sardines."

Back to the OP stocking...

How hard is your water?
What are the tank dimensions of this 55 (US gallons?)?

I'm not sure that Swordtails are a good mix with Angelfish or Hatchets, the former enjoy a moderate-strong current and may spook the other two with their activity (both at feeding and generally). These fish need hard water, anything greater than ~gH 10 should be fine.

Can the tank contain >45cm of actual water depth? If not, Angelfish are not suitable. Also a "random duo" put together in a tank is dangerous, either by a bonded pair; a singleton; or a group of 6 to usually get a bonded pair and rehome the other 4.

Marble Hatchets can be a bit fragile and they are one of the smallest members of the type at ~3cm SL, while Angelfish will not be able to swallow them whole, I've lost count of the number of times I've seen Angels in fish stores giving pretty small fish grief.

I would say not overstocked, but N0body of the Goat's compatibility concerns are valid.  Could be totally fine, could be some picking at between fish.

its a 55 gallon ? the hatchets could be replaced but i would like to keep the swordtails. my friend is giving me one of his pairs, i havent set up the tank yet im just brainstorming here, the water depth is 17 inches so i think thats good

Water depth needs to be at least 18" to prevent stunting, so I would look to an alternative to Angels, perhaps something like A Firemouth or Rainbow Cichlid or other mild mannered CA cichlid that likes hard water.

In my opinion, the stock isn't too bad. I would go for platinum or silver hatchets instead of marbles so as too avoid the risks of them being eaten.
I personally think that 17inches is fine for a pair of angelfish for life. I can't see how 1inch is the difference between being stunted and being perfectly healthy?

I think N0body of the Goats idea of a CA community would be great though. You could have swordtails to occupy the surface, blind cave tetras to occupy the middle and a peaceful CA cichlid to act as a centrepiece. You could do a pair of cichlids such as Firemouths or sajicas or you could have about 4 rainbows or nano cichlids.

i dont know my exact depth i know its more than 17 i just didnt measure it right ive still decided to stick with angels thoughim not really interesting in any other chiclids.
