is this okay to do to my filter

i am currently using
bio-balls
filter
filter
on my aquaclear filters but was thinking bout using all filter media. i dont run carbon since i have plants and i was thinking there might be more room for bacteria on another sponge and give me more mechanical filtration. whatta ya think?

Those aquaclear filter sponges make excellent bio-filters as well as mechanical, and it's all I use in mine. Bio-balls were never really meant for smaller filters like these - they are really best in sumps.
