Is This Ok For A Refugium?

Just wanna check with people that ime not missing anything out with my refugium......had it running for a couple of weeks now and cant say ive knowtosed any growth.

The stuff ive got in the is Chaeto algae is it ment to be very wire looking and feel like firm???

Dont think ime missing anything out but if i am please can you tell me.....or give me any tips on how i can make it better.

The light is an 11w pod from arcadia.

Brighter light maybe? you wanting the 5100k bulbs or closest to that!

Ditch the crappy test kit and get on to Salifert kits.
More light.
I use an 18w energysaver full Daylight spectrum.

Other than that, then everything fine.

18w corallife on my fuge, actinic and daylight bulbs. Its tiny and I love it. Other than your light, the setup looks good!

ooooo rite think i may not be putting as much light over as i can lol......its a 9W lightpod so think ill ditch that and get some bits over the weekend and set up a light similar to the one you shew me bigC

There are better one's around. Most reefers would use Salifert.

ah rite well may look into investing once ive used these ones.

right so ive been out shopping today for a new refugium light setup and following peoples ideas ive come up with a basic lamp fitting which takes large srew fitting bulbs, and a 12W bulb which gives out 60W of 6500k light and got it all for under £10......bargain.

heres a few pics of how things are set up now.

Here was the first set up......little bt dull as its so high up

So then i moved it 10 mins later to here....please note the bright white thing below the light isnt the bulb its the overflow pipe catching the light.

nothing major but the heater is now in the middle section and the right section of the sump is now going to be used as a fuge.

ill post a piccy up in 2 weeks time to show the difference......if any that the new light has made.

Please do! as i thort 5100k bulbs wer ment to be the best K for refugiums! be intrested to no!

well ive read about 5100k being very good indeed from the link you posted but i saw stuck for choice in shops around my area.....either 2700k or 6500k and that was it so figured 6500k is closer to 5100k than 2700k.

If the results are good after 2 weeks then i wont change but if they aint good then will be sure to try a 5100k but ill have to order from the net.

Ahh same! closest i got over hear in the shops was 6400k but i brought two 5100k's but to be honsted im not seeing much groth in my refugium! but im growing caluper not cheato like the link
