Hi

I recently bought 3 yo yo loaches and right after they have fed they have bulging tummies, i am not overfeeding as i only feed once a day a small pinch and didnt feed them at all yesterday. there are other fish in the tank but it only seems to be the loaches that have the big tums. By morning they will have gone down again. Surely this isnt normal? All they water stats are perfect. am doing 20 % water changes weekly.

Our three yo yos often have fat tummies after they've eaten. They're still young and still growing and eat loads. What do you feed yours? Ours have flake or sinking pellets most days, and brine shrimp or blood worms (these are dried but in a kind of fish paste so they sink) a couple of times a week. They also love our bristlenose catfish's algae wafers!

If there stomachs only look like this after they eat then go back to normal later then yes this is normal. Its just a sign that they are eating well. You ought to see my Columbian sharks bellys after they eat lol. :good:

Phew thanks for the replies, i am totally paranoid they are gonna get sick!! yeh they do go back to normal by the morning. I feed them a pinch of flake once a day. They do eat the sinking algea wafer i send down for my plec at night time too every other day. and the other alternate day i put a small amount of frozen blood worms for my 3 dwarf frogs which they seem to polish off 2. Greedy lil things i think, as long as nothing is wrong, im happy.
