Is This Normal?

early tonight i replaced my dry fert in the gravel. when i took it out there was alot of black castings/peiecs of it and it came swirling everywhere. Is this normal? did i leave it in the gravel too lonG? i puted it in like last week. Any help?

Not sure if this should happen within a week, but over a month this definitely happens. But it would certainly not harm anything by breaking up into bits. If you are worried about the nutrients leaching too fast, try using clay to provide a protective layer. i.e. wrap the fert in a ball of clay and push into the gravel.
