Is this normal guppy behaviour?

Hello,
First post from newbie here. I had my tank and my guppies for one week.
A couple of days ago I went to switch their light off and I noticed them being way more active than normal. I haven't seen this behaviour in the pet shop either, which is about all my experience with pet fish.
I am starting to realize this will be a long term passion of mine.

I would really appreciate it if someone with good experience with guppies can tell me are they being happy and just fooling around or are they under some sort of stress and for what reason?

I would also appreciate any other comments regarding my tank as it is my very first attempt.

Welcome to the forum! Okay so let's try to work this out for you For starters your tank is not cycled which is required for fish to live long and healthy lives. 1 week is not long enough for your tank to cycle properly. Once you have read the article please reply with your water parameters.

Please provide the following readings.

Ammonia

Nitrite

Nitrate

PH

Hardness

Water temp

If you are lucky your water might not be too out of whack. To test your water, go to your LFS and ask them to test your water (It should be free) or purchase your own kit (which is recommended)

lastly, your fish are showing completely normal guppie behavior.

Hi snork6, thanks for your answer. The day you replied I measured ammonia and PH, I was not able to measure any other parameters with the kit I have at the moment.
Ammonia was 0.25 mg/L which I thought was very low amount.
PH was 7.8 which was on the very end of the spectrum.
Temp is constant 26 C.
After I took the measurements, I replaced about 30% of the water. The following day I measured PH and it was still the same.
The guppies seem ok, so I plan to leave things as they are, just replace 30% of water every week. It is 30L tank and there is 5 guppies in it.
