Is This Java Moss?

Hi,

I went to my LFS yesterday and shop worker was cleaning tanks and removing lots of, I assume, Java Moss.
When asked what is it and what is he going to do with it, dude said it's an algae, some kind of hair algae (me)

I asked if I can get some, so he gave me a whole bag of it for free

Is this Java Moss? Many stems have brown algae on them, is it going to be a problem?

Certainly looks like java moss to me. Hasn't got the the christmas tree shaped growth of christmas moss which is one of the other more popular mosses in the hobby. Can't believe that someone working in a fish shop thought it was algae.

add it to water to open it up , i would think you would get a more defented answer that way we could see it better

and if it is way to go
