for almost 3 weeks now i've been cycling my 180l tank, i add food (a god amount of it) 2-3 times daily.
i fogot to test the water for the first week and on the second i had 0ppm ammonia and about 0.25ppm Nitrite it has now got to 0ppm ammonia and nitrite.
i added stress zyme to bost the becteria levels at the start, do you think i am cycling? i have done no water changes since 2 weeks ago whhen to co2 leaked yeast into the water.
i had 0.25ppm nitrite even after the water change, is this okay now it is 0ppm ammonia and nitrite
i am going to continue this for atlease another week.

Are you using food for a fishless cycle then? i have always thought this to be a bit of a difficult way to do this, especially with the availability of cheap ammonia solutions in the UK. It's usually advised to start off with 4-5ppm of ammonia, so it's difficult to say.

You are hoping for 0 ammonia and 0 nitrite after adding your ammonia source and leaving it for 12-24 hours. You should not need to do a water change to bring the nitrite down.. If this works and you see a rise in the nitrate levels then that's where you want to be.

If you cannot be sure as to how much ammonia source you are putting in, or you think it may be a low level, this does not mean the tank is not cycled if the results are good, but it does mean that it is cycled for a LOW bio-load (i.e. only a few fish that would equal that amount of ammonia output/waste).

Hope that helps, but more info would help me.

Squid.

im not planing on adding a full stock load straight away, im going to add some danios for a week just because in the past i've had bad luck. im just doing a semi-cycle so that it will coap a bit better and i hope for 0 fish loss this time.
but thanks for the advise.
i forgot to say how much food im adding daily, its about 2/3 table spoon of it (its crumbled up) and i know this is WAY more then i need to feed the fish when i only have a few.
