is this fish combo ok?

why only one dwarf gourami, they can be kept in pairs in community tanks!

Also how big is the aquarium, Gourami and the Tetras should be fine same with male Betta, most tetras look better in qty though. ;)

You may be right, it's just I have a male veiltail betta (Unwanted Rescue) that lives quite happily with a pair of pearl gourami in my community aquarium. Both the betta and the gourami are in perfect condition.

I guess it is down to the temprament of the individual fish, the size of the aquarium and qty of fish living in the enviroment.

Kind Regards

Just get the tetras and the shrimp untill you get the larger tank, and when you do, don't get the betta.
Actually I'd have to say get the gouramis first, tetras need a lot more swimming room :)

i also wanted dwarf gouramis, but after some research found out they can be hard to keep.(something about the way theyre bred)
also wouldnt house them with bettas..and neons can sometimes be too nippy for a betta...although i have a betta with white cloud minnows in 5 gallon...

Hi penguinpimp1990 :)

A 10 gallon tank is a little small for a betta and gouramis to be kept together. In fact, it's a bit small for a pair of gouramis alone. Both kinds of fish are territorial top dwellers and both can get aggressive with other fish they consider competition.

Have you ever thought about getting corydoras? They are bottom dwellers that seem to get along very well with bettas since they do not compete with them in any way. They are active and interesting fish and they come in a variety of colors and markings. My bettas seem fascinated by them and are quite comfortable living at the tops of their tanks.

Later, when you get a larger tank, you will have room for gouramis and tetras. :D
