I went out yesterday looking for some pieces of driftwood to add to my tank and i found a few i thought would look nice, and this one piece really stuck out. Its thick, and its hollow, but its really soft and im not sure if it is ok. i scrubbed it with a wire brush, and did an overnight soak in a bleach solution, and scrubbed it again. This is what it currently looks like. Is it ok to use, or is it best to just throw this one away? I really do like it and love how it is hollow and would give give an extra hiding place for my corys and pleco, but i would rather not harm not them with it.

Well I moved on and am using a couple different pieces of driftwood. These ones looked safer and they also look good so i figured it wasn't worth the risk when i can still have something really nice. The only difference is that they are not hollow, but that's alright. Hopefully in a week or two they will be in good enough condition to go into the tank, and i might pick up some moss to attach to them as well.

wait, so the piece in the picture isn't the one you are putting in?

I don't see how it wouldn't be :)

I should add, I'm no expert.. But, I don't see anything wrong.

Thanks i might consider it again then, I'm just really liking the ideas i have for the ones. My issue with that first hollow piece was just how very very soft it was, and i didn't know if that was a bad sign for it at all, or if it would rot faster in the tank, or really anything haha! Iv'e never done this before so its all totally new and I don't want to harm my fish over something silly like that.
