Hi all,

This is my first post in a loooong time, as I've not kept fish myself since 2009 (most recently my betta, Captain Jack)! My fiance has been keeping a beautiful marine tank with some help from me, but I haven't had the space to keep my own for a while.

That has changed now :) So I'm excitedly gathering together the things I need to get going with a new aquastart 320 with plans to home a lovely newbie betta once more! I will go to my fave LFS locally, who often have really beautiful selections, to pick my new boy when I'm ready.

The problem is, I think I got carried away on Sunday with my plans for a zen-like theme. I got some fine pale sand-like gravel (not actual sand), a pebble arch and some tall, large leafy silk plants. I also got this little low-level silk plant, but I'm worried about a rocky bit sticking out of it. I'm planning to bury the base in substrate as much as possible, but I've attached pics of the decoration.

What do you think? Is it too sharp for a betta's fins? I'm looking at it now and thinking it needs to go back.

Thanks a lot for any advice you can give :)

Thank you both :) I'm extra cautious as it's been such a while!

Captain Jack was named after Jack Harkness of Torchwood! Some people expect Sparrow though :)

I 3rd that ;) Was it from P@H? Think I saw something similar in a store when I called in earlier today.

I have kept bettas in 320's in the past and I found them a nice size for bettas with a fairly decent light for growing plants, too :good:

That's great thank you! The tank was a much appreciated present for this exact purpose :D The deco was from a really great shop called The Abyss in Stockport, my fave LFS :)
