Well my female platy looks ready to burst and she is so beautiful I want all her fry to live! So is it cruel to put her in a breeding net so she stresses out and has fry so i can save them all? I did that once with my molly though i didnt know she'd have fry, I just put her in there because i thought she was biting others.....

btw I have 2 actually that are ready to burst.....one sunset wag and one half sunset half silver wag

bump. I need help! im leaving soon and if she has fry during the week they're doomed as i go to school until 3!

i wouldnt put her in a breeding net/tank at this stage if shes "ready to burst" like you say,cos she may abort her fry, personally i would leave the tank in darkness and hope to save as many fry as possible on your return from school. If there anything like my guppys and platys i used to have there will be loads and loads of fry hanging in the plants and decor....hope this helps

ok thanks, ill try. tomarrow im going to buy some more all plants so they can hide better. its just my sunset fire/silver wag is so pretty :[ but i guess ill wait.

Another problem with the breeding net is it doesn't leave the fry anywhere to escape from her (unless it's one of those things where they fall through the bottom).

ok im buying lots of plants tomarrow, and will they stay on short ones on the bottom or should i get lots of talls ones ??? or floating ones?!??!

Mine have tended to hide under the floating ones. They don't sell them round my way, so what I did was to buy some ordinary plants (mainly java fern) and let it float. This time I've got cabomba for when my new guppies give birth.

i bought lots of tall pants today, and i have 2 small ones folating, and my fish are exploring, they love it!
