is this canister filter any good?

i bought this canister filter today at a great price. it is a cascade 1000 and it is intended to be put on a 55 galloner. i have a few questions about it. will the circulation of 265 gallons per hour be too hard for small fish? (i.e. under 3 inches) second does anyone here one this and how well does it work? i love the cascade hang on back filters, they work like wonders, so im assuming their canister filters are wonderful too. also the manual says nothing about where the spray bar can be positioned, can it be put a few inches above the water surface or is that too high?

just lower the flow if you think there is to much pressure

I'm not sure on this, but I sure wouldn't think any canister filter would put out more pressure than small fish could handle.
