Is this alive?

I bought a package of Lilly Bulbs (they look like Tiger Lotus on the front). I dropped them in my tank where they have been floating around for almost a week now. No growth seen on them. Is this normal? I also bought a pack of Agor. bulbs, and the sank immediately.
Just wondering if I've gotten ripped off.

If they haven't sprouted in two weeks, then they probably won't. I've had some bulbs that sprouted while floating so that's normal. It would be a good idea, however, to take out the bulbs and smell them. If they smell rancid, then they are rotten and no good, but if they don't smell rancid there's nothing wrong with leaving them in the tank for a little while longer. Perhaps you just got a slow batch.

My lilly bulb took several weeks to sprout and when it did It looked like a root was growing out of it so I stuck the root in the gravel. Every day I would go in and check on the tank and the lilly bulb would be rolled over and on top of my already growing apon bulb. So I would stick the root back in the gravel. I assumed one of the critters kept moving it and once it got rooted good they wouldn't be able to move it anymore. Well after a week or so of burying roots I noticed that the root wasn't a root. It had leaves on it. Stupid me. So the moral of the story is be patient it'll grow. Mine sank straight to the bottom though so I'm not sure why yours aren't. I say dig a little pit the size and half the depth of you bulb. Then put the bulb in it and put a THIN layer of gravel on it to make it sink. Or maybe tie it down with some mesh. But who knows maybe it will sprout without touching the bottom. I don't see why it wouldn't. Mine is very pretty now and I'm very glad that I didn't pull it out and give up on it. The Apon will grow much faster than the lilly so don't gauge success by the apon.
