Is This Algae?

on the walls of my tank and on the outside of my internal filter there are what looks like hundereds of little hairs, almost like fur.

is this a type of algae. if i run my fingers along the inside of the glass it will go but will grow back within a few days.

yes its algae, lower your lighting period, to about 8 hours a day and if you have directional flow. make sure its in the best position possible, ie not facing the back of the tank

directional flow? can you explain.

well your filter outflow pipe, make sure it is spraying in all directions of the tank, poor flow, can cause algae as well as too much light
