Just been to my LFS and spotted a few of these in a display tank. Are they Rotkeils or Greens?

I know I should have asked someone who worked there really, but I'm sure some of you experts on here will provide me with better information anyway.

Sorry about the quality of the picture too, only had my iphone with me. B-)

Rotkeil. No green sev has any red shouldering. On that fish, the red shoulder should get more intense as it matures.

I'm not sure chili pepper.

There was around 6-8 of them in a massive tank with some Rays, Geo's and bristlenoses amongst other larger species of tetra I think. It seems they have been moved into this tank due to them not selling and outgrowing the smaller display tanks, so there were no sign of any prices.

I was going to ask what a reasonable price would be?

They ranged from 4-6inches in size, but I would have prefered a Juvenile to be honest. I plan to take another trip to get some stocking ideas for my new tank later on this week (possibly Thursday) so I may ask a member of staff.

Whereabouts are you? I got mine from Star4 in Birmingham, and they are beautiful fish.

I did ask in a fish shop whether they could get me one in, before I knew of Star's, and they said a 2" one would be about £25-30. Very expensive, but they are rare in my part of the UK.

Yes I've seen many posts on here recommending Star4's babies, but its a 2 hour drive so I'm undecided whether it would be worth it/work out cheaper than buying them close to home.

I live in Warrington in Cheshire btw and spotted these fish at my local branch of M.A.

That's interesting. It was MA Cambridge that told me they could get these fish in for that amount. They have a few nice large Rotties in their display tank, which they won't sell. I can see why, I wouldn't sell them either!

TBH if you only live 2 hours away, I'd definitely get the babies from Star. I live 3-4 hours away, so wasn't possible for me to drive. Luckily we arranged a courier.

Think she's doing something crazy at the moment and offering 5 for £15

Okay thanks for that, I'll bear it in mind. (My 240L tank's currently cycling at the minute)

Also, just out of curiousity I'll find out what the prices were at MA when I go on Thursday and bump this thread up to the top for you lol.

Yeah, interesting to know. Mine were only a fiver each off Star though, and nice to know the history and see the parents of the fish too :good:

I went back today and found out that they were not for sale. Although, they did say they could order in some juvies if required, but I'll have to check the price first.

I wish my tank would hurry up and cycle, just hit a rocky patch and it's becoming really frustrating!!!
