Is This A Normal Common Plec...?

I have 2 of these in my tank. This is the largest of the pair. I'd say he's about 2" long at the most, I've had them both around 5 months now.

Is it a Common Plec?
What kind of size will they get to, and how quickly?

I meant Bristlenose Plec - Was looking at common plecs on another tab and let my mind wander... :blush:

yep ... def a bn .. will reach 5 inches as truck sayed and will reach about 4 inches when its about a year old.... great for the riddance of algy
 
yeh ... i can stop them ...
they are the easiest egg layer and one of the mosty rewarding :D

pleco fry are so cool

bn pleco fathers are very protective of small fry and eggs so the fry wont be eaten

So youo saying I can easily breed them in my community tank?

I wouldnt know how to sex them though.
 
Hi, adult males have a face full of bristles, adult females can either have no bristles at all or just some around the edge of their lip. Also when viewed from above males generally have a wider head. They should be sexable at just over 2 inches.
