will this guppy be a good daddy

He's ok but nothing fantastic.

I think he is Purdy. :) Not too fancy so hopefully will give a nice healthy batch of fry.

Just my opinion though. I tend to like the not so fancy Fancies.

As long as you aren't actualy looking to show your fish or produce a show strain, that guppy should be fine to breed with. He looks healthy and, though it's a little difficult to tell from a picture, seems to be a good size - an indication that he is not from overly in-bred lines (which is good of course as it means he'll have a stronger immune system and be over-all healthier and produce fewer severaly deformed or weak fry).

well, i don't know, it looks like a cross breed between a sunrise guppy and a green cobra fancy guppy.

green? i cant see any green in the pic and there is defernetly no green in the fish i am now looking at now

He has some mosaic guppy in him which aern't a particualy inbred breed as far as fancy guppys go(i'd give a pedigree mosaic about 6 or 7/10 on the inbreeding scale, for your average crossbreed i'd give about 4 or 5) as they have been around for some time to harden up a bit, and his tail length is good although the shorter it is the more desirable it is for good breeding genes- his overall shape is average/good as he is a bit on the curvy side, what size is he?
I have a similar male guppy to yours although with different coloring in him although overall the same pattening, i know mine is very hardy as he had massive ammonia burns on him when i first got him just over half a year ago which he recovered from and during the time i have owned him he has never been deseased or ill once and always very active and horny and has produced very good fry...Time will tell in how good yours is as far as breeding quality goes- keep a track on how often he gets ill and what with and how he copes with it or which fish get ill around him and he doesn't. Keeping a guppy diary is useful if you are interested in breeding good quality guppys with good genes and imune systems  .

I like him. I'd say go for it

I have some beautiful guppy boy fry at the moment. At a very young age they have stunning colours and one looks like it has a delta tail. One is almost pure leopard colouration allready and his anal fin has only just folded. I wasn't going to keep breeding guppies but I will probably get these guys some girls to have fun with

look at the top where his upper most fin is. and by the way, who is that other nice lookin guppy in the back of that pic?

Its a female guppy, she is most likely another mosaic or cobra crossbreed although has been bred quite a few times with non pattened guppys- if you want the same effect, find a nice completely grey/brown female guppy and a yellow mosaic/cobra male and breed them together and you'll get the same effect; the more times you breed their offspring with other plain females, the large and fewer the spots will be on the tail :)

its a cobra crossbreed yes, the female that i am breeding my male with is in another tank ,plain with a light tan colour tail, very small and straight body, male guppies that i have in my lfs have huge tails and round bellies so this male is my best bet for a colourful but healthy fry batch, i am however going to breed the two seen in the picture to see what colourful fry i can produce however i think they might not have a good imune system, still worth a try
