yea yea i know, i posted the same thing in the catfish cradle but can any of u moderaters deleat the post in the catfish cradle? i am most active here so i posted it here. anyway, i got another cory today, it was an albino cory, now i want to have a whole tank just for cories! if i get anouther cory, what should it be? not too rare that i can't even find, lol  oh well the main question was that how to tell wether my cories is a male or a female, i reserched alot but i want more in depth answers if ya know what i mean :p

Thanks :hyper:

Kev :D

Unless it is really OBVIOUS, like with bettas or guppies, I think you almost have to have two adult fish of the same species and of the opposite sex right in front of you in order to figure it out.

Like, for corys, they say that the female is a bit broader just behind the gill covers, or some such. Well, if you don't have both, how are you going to know which one is broader? :fun:

I have 18 fish and I know the sexes of all of them except the cory cats and the black skirt tetras -- the ones that aren't at all obvious. Sorry, I know that isn't much help. Maybe someone else has "the secret". Let me know if you find out! :D

As a rule females corys are usually larger and thicker across the middle but a well fed plump male can fool even experts. If you want to breed them i suggest buying at least 10 and watching for signs of them pairing up to spawn then you will know they are a male and female.

ah, then i probably can't find out yet because my 2 cories r only like 2 months old which i brought yesterday and i had a bronze cory for over 3 months now but they r still about 1.5 inch long, how long will it take until they r full grown? i currently have 1 bronze and 1 albino cory...
