Is There A Surefire Way To Tell Male From Female?

Alright. Here's the info. I imagine they're from the same spawn. Male is a plakat or a roundtail or something, female is unknown but not VT and probably either pk or rt. She has a flare that's quite big, though not as big as the male and the male has a bigger beard though she has a beard as well. Shorter fins than him by a long bit, and significantly shorter ventrals. Also an oviposter. He doesn't have an oviposter. I intend on breeding them if she's a female but I don't want to waste my time conditioning bettas that are both males. Any idea? She also only flares at him and not her reflection. She does not bubblenest and he does, or well did, he hasn't done it since he got into the breeding tank.

Let me tell you about my black/silver/red/purple... my dark ct female

She has a males body-by this I mean to ME she looks more male compared to any of my other females both past and present.
She has short fins and teeeeny tiny Ventrals.
She has an oviposter.
She has the BIGGEST flare I've ever seen on any female/male. It is actually quite scary when you see her flare. She has a beard I assume (by this I mean the black frill, she is black, how'd I know? ).
She blows teeeeny bubbles that just pop after a few hours.

I'd say she was female. But I am no professional. Just put them together when you feel they are ready for breeding and see what happens. I'm sure there will be about 50 replies to this post telling me that that is a huge nono. However- You will never know untill you try, if you are there when they are put together, you will soon see what she really is. If she is actually a he (which I dont personaly think she is) then simply take her out and act on getting a different girl.

Teheh. I guess I will. I might get a bit suspicious if she doesn't look eggy. Will probably put her in with the male oh next sunday if she looks read. Honestly I'm leaning towards female... I mean she just looks so different from my male. Though I have my suspicions with her fins, bit long, well actually only the anal fin... and... she might be a HM, tho she only has 2 rays.

i think shes a female and you will know shortley if she doesnt get eggs or they dont wrap lol
