My black molly Twilight is looking a little odd. It's not her curly cue tail, but her dorsal fin, tail, and gill cover have me a little concerned.

Her dorsal fin is a little off center. I think it is just the way she was born, but it is so far off I am wondering if there is something wrong wither her. Her side does not look to be buldging too bad, since I think she is pregnant, but I was just wondering.

Her tail has me conserned because right before the stock turns into the flukes there is a bend. No matter how she swims it is still there. Is this just another birth defect or should I be worried? I read in another article somewhere that a bent tail means fry complications and because she appears to be preggers I am watching her close.

On her gill she is loosing some coloring. It was just a little at first, but it is bigger now. It is making her gill cover in the effected area turn a silvery-white. I can't tell if it is a fungus or something else at this time.

Also, near her anus is a white spot. It does not look like ick, and I am not sure what to make of it. Should I treat her with some fungus meds to be safe? Should she be quarentined out of the main tank?

She is still eating and making waste like normal.

Please Help.

Does she look like she has spinal curvature? Many livebearers are so inbred now days its not umcommon to encounter birth defects in them like mishapen tails or bent spines or kinks in their flesh, there are some deseases though that can cause spinal curavture but are slow to take effect and the majority are untreatable but are on the whole fairly rare. Keep an eye on her and see if her mishapen body changes in any way, if its still the same after 3weeks its most likely somthing she was born but does indicate she's not very good breeding material and her defect will most likely show up in some of her fry as they mature.
The white gills sound like she has the beginning of a fungal infection and if shes just on her own or with some other livebearers, treat the tank with aquarium salt- if not use an anti fungal med but not full dose.

Her spine doe snot look miscurved,b ut I will keep an eye on her anyways. And if she is not a good breeder, that is ok. I will love her anyways ^_^.

She is in a tank with two other mollies (both female as well) and they look fine. I added some of the fungul treatment, but I didn't do a full dosgage as you reccomended. Lets hope this one survived the fungus.
