hi all,

just wondering if there is like a pocket guide book available covering common species that i could buy to take with me to the LFS, which, when i see something i like, i can reference to see compatability, minamum quantities needed, tank size, water PH ranges etc etc so i could make an informed decision while i'm in the LFS without needed to come home and posted a question on here (not like i have anything against you guys, just want to save a 30 mile round trip to the shop).

cheers

Andy

It doesn't have recommended tank sizes and occasionally the size of growth can be slightly over-enthusiastic, but the DK (dorling kindersley) book 'Aquarium Fish' is great for beginners. I borrowed it from my boyfriend for a quick read through recently and it's quite a good book if you want to familiarize yourself with fish species etc.

Just type in the fish name in google and it will bring up care sheets ect

You might want to re-read the original post - he would like to take the pocket book with him to the LFS, to read up on actually in the shop, with a view to buying there and then. Unless you're advocating he buy a laptop and mobile broadband.... :hey:

Just sell some fish / kt and you too can have a smart phone. Then you can download an Aquarium Live Wall Paper and have virtual fish - much easiness :)

The majority of phones these days have internet access from them don't they?
If there is something I need info on I just get my phone out.

Yeah, I tried once to use the internet on my "normal" phone. Just the once, though....

What do you mean? Was it expensive? Why only the once?

Cos I could only see about an eighth of the screen in one go. On this PC, I've got a 1440x990 pixel monitor. My phone is about 10x6 pixels.

I love my desire - easy to read the intenet on the move and really wouldn't go back to a normal phone screen. The battery life is very poor but it will improve in the next few versions (I hope)
