Hi.

I mean toward little fish like neons or shrimps ? Just one male. I have him for few days and it's calm, not interested in anything but plants, swimming at the top only night, hidding in caves or plants.

Please, tell me your experience.
I don't want surprises with my neons which I medicated and saved from .... whatever disease they keep getting.

I hope too.
I read they they are calm gentle fish but some posting on this forum talk about killer dwarf gourami so ..... I worry now.
And, why is he pecking like a hen on the plants after he ate like a pig brine shrimp ?

because he's a fish and has not alot better to do then to eat anything that resembles food :p haha, I wouldnt worry.

Gouramis are agressive towards their own kind (including cousins like bettas and other gouramis), but not towards other fish. I keep my dwarf gourami with neons, and no problems whatsoever. If you would have fry though of any type of fish, they will eat them as a snack, but almost any fish does.

Thanks.

I found this:

Dwarf Gourami are very prone to bacterial infections.

Ha. After neons and betta I choosed a dwarf gourami ..... That's why people like me are called beginners.
But they sure look nice !

Are dwarfs eating cherry shrimps ?

yes dwarf gouramis are very prone to bacterial infections, and i mean very. my pair went down without reason and all the other fishes are still alive and kicking. they do show aggression towards their own kind but the level of aggression varies between individuals.

I can answer to myself : YES.

is atacking the neons.
She eats a looooot. When I'm late with breakfast she goes to surface and spits water out .... Did you ever see that ?
She is also making some sound when she eats the pelets from surface.
I am feeding the frog with a droper and she comes and atacks the droper .... No more shy girl !

I am a little upset because I don't want the neons to be stressed. They are already avoiding her.
All my fishes are crazy ! I sould stick to frog and shrimp.

Any advice ?
Thank you.

it shouldnt be a problem i have a male dwarf gourami in a community aquarium as was aggressive to my female and now he is no problem at all, settled very well he lives happily with neons,x-rays rams etc!

my female is the same as the one pictured by lili70 and she is with flame tetras and platies and again she is no bother at all and doesnt bother nobody, every fish is different

but like previously said they are aggressive with their iwn kind and sometimes other anabantoids ie betta!
