Is That Normal?

I think that's perfectly normal. My fishes or atleast my livebearers used to always do that and they have settled down a bit but still do it quite often and they have more than enough space (9fishes in a 46g tank)

What kind of fish are we talking about and how big is the tank?

Some of mine do that when I'm sitting near the tank in an attempt to beg for food. When I only had two rasboras (was slowly stocking the tank) they used to glass pace during certain parts of the day b/c they would see their own reflection and would attempt to "school" with it...after I got more they stopped completely. Other possibilities is the fish needs more swim room, or is trying to chase of an "aggressor" which is really their own reflection.

Well this did happen.

I had/have

4 x-ray tetras
1 orange platy
2 red baby platy (4 months)
1 baby plec

In a 10 gallon tank. I know you all think I'm crazy :S putting a common pleco in a ten gallon but I always sell them when they get big. All my platies were going up and down the glass. I was not a merrier though. The next day all my platies got ich and died. The plec was poisoned by the treatment and died too :-( . It was a bad fish week. :S :grr:

10 GALLON?! You need to upgrade! Go on craigslist and look for a tank right now! For that, I would recommend a 29 Gallon. That way the fish would be comfortable, and wont die on you!
