my betta has a small dot right above his eyes. at first i thought it was white (fungus) but after lookin at it more I think it looks more like a small piece of glass. it just appeared today. he had something similar on a different body part when i bought him and that went away on its own. i dont know what this is and i dont know if i should take action. he's in a community tank so i only want to medicate if its really necessary. any thoughts?

sounds like a scale that is out of place. and if the last one like that "went away on its own" that makes sense as it fell off.
as long as hes acting otherwise normally, and it doesnt look like a grain of salt (ich) which youd quickly see loads more of them, i wouldnt worry at all.

yep sounds like hes bumped a scale. my boys aways do it getting in and out of their hidy holes. just keep your eye on him
