I have a platy that I am 100% certain is pregnant. I put her in a breeding net a few days ago because it looked like she was going to pop...but nothing?

Is it safe to keep her in the net until she has her babies, provided she actually IS pregnant?

I have a few pics so you can see for yourself. I tried to get her from different angles.

Sorry about the bad quality.

Any help would be great!

Thanks!

I side view would be better, if you have had her in the trap that long release her..

Its best to only keep them in a trap for 2 nights max, tke her out, leave it a day or two, and then try again for one night..

You will know whne she is going to drop cos she will act really mobid trying to hide somewhere in peace, or will dwell near bottom of tank, or at surface, or near plants, filters..

try to get a pic and post it of her from the side like this...

Sorry mate, but this is the best I can do. Bloody Blackberrys...You would think they would have better cameras!

I hope you can tell by these pics.

I just took her out. I hope I didn't make a mistake and let her out. She was REALLY hard to catch! lol

Hi m8,

Dont be alarmed by the lines ive added to the pic, they are just so i could see the belly properly as there was a bad reflection on the pic..

The fish is pregnant but i dont think she is as far on as you think, a clearer picture would of been great but going by this.. she is very well fed, and also probably not close to being due, ... i would say more than a week possibly 2 beore she drops..

Depending on her size she may drop earlier as smaller fish dont get as big...

The best thing to do is look for the signs i said in my previous post..

If she does things like that, then trap for a day...

Thanks for that.

She is definately well fed. All of my fish are actually!

I check everyday for babies because a few of my other fish are pregnant too, but they have had fry before so I know what to look for.

I've never had baby platys before. How exciting! :D
