Went to feed my sons fish this evening & as his white mollie came over to me as usual, she left a trail of what looked like golden eggs behind her. I sat & watched her for a while (after I put food in the tank) & she would take some food (she has always been greedy) then go to the bottom of the tank & deposit some more 'eggs' in the gravel then up to the top again for more food. Am I to assume she has aborted for some reason? She seems to be ok & I've not noticed anything wrong with her at all before today.
Have tested water; ammonia - 0
nitrite - 0
nitrate - 25
ph - 7.2

was their like a pink blob round the eggs or any fur like growth as she was shedding them? -_-

I would say she is definatly aborting, if there is no male in the tank or one that she has contact with in the last 2months some females will release their eggs to grow fresh new ones so her womb lining doesn't get muscle growing around the eggs and getting the stuck in her; if there is a male in the tank though he could have been stressing her out alot if he happens to be a bit on the agressive side and caused her to abort, the same goes if she has been picked on by any other fish recently or you have had any water quality issues or added any strong meds to the tank recently.
As long as she is in no bad distress or looking ill she'll be fine and just grow some fresh eggs in her :) .

Thanks for the replys. Mickslack first - no pink or fur like growth that I could see, just perfect round golden orbs. Tokis - She has had contact with the males as I mentioned but they never pay her any attention, they always stay together & she does her own thing. We have no idea who the 'daddy' is. Anyway she seems ok, eating well & swimming round the tank as normal.

Good to hear she's doing okay. Just continue to try to keep things as stress free as possible for her. :) And hopefully she'll just grow some new eggs for new babies!

Good to hear, was wondering if it was some kind of viral infection or if there was a deformaty in the young which caused them to abort, good to hear she is ok :fun:
