Tanks as per sig. 20G Overstocked, high maintenance. New 37G upright, not the best, but got it as a bargain and was more acceptable to my better half than the space of a 55G.

New lighting for the new 37G planted tank, around 2W per gal I will aim for, don't want CO2 yet.
40 Gal Fluval external 205? 200w heater

Planning some depth, by adding a second level, with slate probably, Eco substate for the plants. Bigger round stones on one side, smaller pebbles on the other with pebbles and sand (Or will this harden too much? )in the middle and front. strips of acetate or similar to seperate the sand from planting areas.

May add peat to the second level with medium pebbles for stability, but will this soften the water too much?

Moving the 4 Platinum Angels, 1 small hairy faced albino pleco, 1 Yoyo Loach. Everything is between 1" & 1.5" currently. Will add another yoyo, they like to play together.

That would leave 22 small fish in the 20 gallon tank

Thinking about moving either the 6 * Black Skirt Tetras or the 6 * Rainbow, which would be 16 fish in the 20G and 12 in the 37G. If I wanted to add a couple of bigger fish what would be safe and look cool. (Miles away from here yet, maybe that's enough anyway, eh?)

Current Chemistry 20G tank: Ammonia 0, Nitrite 0, Nitrate 40 (High but 30% water change and gravel clean every week), GH 250 (14dH), kH 100 (5.6dH), ph 7.4, co2 (Calc) 6.7

Any suggestions will be appreciated, I do listen, even as a newbie. My current tank is a joy, but I did listen to the lfs, but was not on this Forum then. I am already thinking of my next tank and haven't even started this on yet

Anyone?

umm, not sure exactly what you're question is here as it sounds like you're saying "This is how my tank's gonna be", yet you're title says "is sand safe with Angels?" Well, in regards to sand with Angelfish, it'll be fine. They won't be bothered by the change of substrate. The yoyo loaches will actually appriciate it more as it'll give them a nice, soft substance to dig through, aswell as any other bottom dwelers will enjoy it. As to what kind of sand, child's play sand, silica sand, pool filter sand or construction sand work just fine, but be sure to wash them out ALOT prior to usage as they do tend to cloud the water extremly otherwise.
