Well my sorority is now up and running, and everyone seems to be getting a long, except for Pyxis. I know this is normal behavior, but she is nipping and chasing everyone and she looks like she has a beard when he/she flares. I assumed Lyra was the Alpha, but now Pyxis is giving everyone except her a nip and chasing them. She does look a bit like a male, and sometimes I can see a dot that looks like an ovipositor, but I heard Male Juvenile Plakats could sometimes have those as well. Here's a pic, help lol

One of my bettas was super tiny when I brought "her" (or him) home. The fish looked identical to the one you posted except was only about 3/4" long. It took months for her to eventually grow extremely long fins and now she looks like a male and has a male-styled beard. From some angles it looks like she still has her ovipositor! lol Who knows. ;)

no, its a female you can tell because of the small white lump in between her pelvic and anal fin on her belly, thuis whit lump indicted that shes sexually mature, and will be more grumpy than usual,

Female like Mckinney Said! NOTICE: This Female is also displaying vertical stripes or Bars indicator that she's ready for A Mate

I also say female due to its body shape, small ventral fins and shape of anal fin(not pointy like a male). The ovispot only helps confirm (but you are correct that some juvi males have a similar looking spot).
all the best!
Cheers
