not absolutly sure, but i think popeye is just a symptom. what ever is causeing the popeye is probably contagious.

One of my fishes had 'pop-eye' recently. I don't know how this came about considering my water quality, air content, and food content is on very good levels.

What I did was to turn up the temperature to around 30c for about a half day, and then return to normal temps for the other half. Then left the fishes alone till the morning, checked once more, and found that I couldn't spot the inflicted fish anymore. No, it hadn't died. It was well again.

Mine was a case of bacterial infection. Perhaps yours is too? Otherwise it could be a parasitical one.

Give my 'cure' a go, and see how things turn out......

Good luck. :)

Try what I've done, and if the problem doesn't go away, yes, you may have to use medication. (Personally, I prefer natural remedies than chemicals).

Can't promise you the right results, but I hope you do get the one you're hoping for.

Give us a shout, once you get results.

Good luck! :)

Melafix is supposed to help popeye as well. I hope it isn't contagious though, as one of the LFS's I go to has a tinfoil barb with horrendous popeye in one of the tanks it sells fish from!!!

Pop Eye itself is not contagious. However whatever caused it may be. Pop eye can be caused by numerous things. It can be a bacterial infection, it can be caused by a scrape or a bruise. It can be caused by bad water conditions. You said your water levels were ok, so i am guessing he scraped it and then caught a bacterial infection. That happened to one of my Bala sharks awhile back and all I used was Melafix. It cleared up within a few days. So my recommendation would be to try turning up the temperature a notch or two, and then adding the recommended dosage of melafix for your size tank.

Unfortunately medications which can be used with cories are limited due to them being scaleless. So defiantely try the melafix since it is all natural. I wouldn't leave the water untreated though.

omg

he died and i am SURE it has noting to do with my tank because my old cories are ok, these were added to my tank recently........

well anyways, i brought him back to the pet shop, gave me credit, now i have 6 intotal! :D

i still kinda missed the lil guy, he was always hiding and not school with my other cories......... :/ i hope the ones i ahve now are healthy, btw i check to see they got no pop eye! :fun:
