Hello to all Im new to the forum I used to have a 3 foot tank which was undoubtably over stocked 3 angels, 2 common plecs, maybe 20 neons, 1 tinfoil barb, 5 albino sharks, a few mollies and maybe 1 or 2 more as you can emagine maintanence was high. Anyway I have relocated a few times so the tank had to go now I am settled I have a 4 foot-180 g tank I only realised last night how many fish are in there and wondered if it was over stocked as I want a little less maintanece this time so I have 6 plattys, 12 zebra danios, 3 red dwarf guarmis, 3 baby lemon spotted plecs, 1 true pair of kribensis, 3 bronze cory and 3 albino cory

Ok, if I'm reading right, you've got 6 plattys, 12 zebra danios, 3 red dwarf guarmis, 3 baby lemon spotted plecs, 1 true pair of kribensis, 3 bronze cory and 3 albino cory in a 180 gallon tank?

Well, you've got a huge tank, and hopefully the filtration to match. Your fish are fairly small - the plecos, if they're the species I'm familiar with, are only 7 or 8 inches at most. You should be able to comfortably tripple your current levels. With good filtration and weekly maintenance, you could go another half of that total. You could go another half without getting to the levels you had in your old 3 foot tank, but at that point you'll want good filtration and careful monitoring of water quality.

with 6 platys, unless they're all males, you could probably reach that level of stocking without spending a dime, too.

4 foot - 180g??? It must be nearly a 4 foot cube to be 180g! Are you sure about the volume?

I was wondering this myself - my 4 foot tank is 55, but my grandfather does have a 4 foot 180 gallon oscar tank, it's 4'x2'x3'. He could have meant 180 liters, in which case his stocking is still reasonable, but about full.

depending on the type of filtration you have and if you maintain regular water changes then you could add to your tank continuing to stick with smaller fish.

Enjoy and hope all goes well

Uh... Did the tinfoil eat the neons? That fish is like 40x larger then a neon and will eat it for lunch... good thing you got rid of it.
