I just upgraded from a 90l to a 200l.

When I upgraded i used some of the filter media from my old cycled filter in my new filter. I also squeezed the sponges from my old filter over my new filter. I then ran my old filter alongside my new filter in the new tank for 3 days.

I moved my fish to the new tank straight away and so the filter has been running for a week with 20 fish in it (Neons, Barbs, Gouramis, Catfish and Shrimp). I have been testing the tank everyday and for the 1st few days Ammonia was 0, Nitrite was 0.1 and Nitrate was 10-20.

Now the ammonia is 0 nitrite is 0 and nitrate is 10...

Is my tank cycled? Can I begin slowly adding fish?

Thanks

Gemma

No i sold my old tank and the filter with it so i just have the one filter on it's own although the filter I have is for a 300 litre and my tank is 200l so i figured that gives me a little extra cover!

I really want to buy some corys as i only have 3 (after 1 died) they seemed happy in my 90l but since moving are a little skittish so wanted to get another 3 corys asap. Will buy some tonight if the general consensus is that my tank is cycled (besides how much difference can 3 corys really make on a 200l?)

Thanks

i would think it would be ok. add them and keep an eye on the stat's to play safe if they go up by a long way do a water change, but should be fine finger x'ed

Hi Gemma,

Seems like you did a good job of the swap over.

You appear to have lost only a little bit of bacteria, hence the small nitrite spike, and your new filter appears to have dealt with it well.

I'd say you can buy some fishies! :good:

BTT
