Is My Platy Pregnant?

Hi i have a platy that is probably pregnant.when she stands still, i notice a little thing on the back of her stomach that is kinda round with a black dot in the middle. Is this a baby? she somtimes hides away in a castle in the tank and comes out when i go there. She eats fine and runs away from the male or swims with him then run away. is she Pregnant? I noticed it like 3 days ago. if she is pregnant, when should i put her in the breeder? i have a pic i drew when she was in the light nad you can see her stomach. this was before i noticed the little headish thing so it is not there. i will try to make one with the head and post it later.

Here is the pic with the little head thing circled. the head thing is lighter in color than that but it was hard to make it blend together . what do you think it is?

when the platy is very large in the belly, it will square off, meaning the back part of the belly will be as low as the front leaving the bottom almost square..

look for her hiding, dwelling near bottom of tank, hiding in corners of tanks (top or bottom), hanging around the heater or internal filter.

She will become very unsocial when ready to drop.

Its trial and error, best thing to do is write down the dates from her first drop, u will start to see a pattern, usually they drop every 4-6 weeks.

u may also see little black dots near her back end of belly (in the gravid spot)... if there is eyes, they are close to dropping.

also look at her from overhead view, she will be very wide when heavily pregnant.

Thank you i will look for this stuff. I still need to know when to put her in. after what sign should i put her in. she hasn't had any. this will be the first batch.

Its just trial and error, depending on age etc, she may not het big, she may get huge, all u can do is when you think she is very big put her in trap..

Only leave her in for 2 days max.

if no joy, leave a day or 2 then put her bk in the trap for another day.

Like i said its trial and error, u will soon get use to when t trap a fish at the right time
