Is My Platy Pregnant?*pics*

View attachment 45464please i need some help. can someone tell me if my platy is pregnant and if she is, when is she going to have her babies thanks!

with her colour being dark orange its hard to see any of the developing fry just above her anal fin (gravid spot) she does look as if she is starting to swell as the colour of her abdomen is lighter in that area so she could be in the first stages of pregnancy, platy have a gestation of up to 5 weeks so maintaining good water quality and regular live food for her will help her produce healthy fry in about 3 weeks time.

ok thanks cause the lady at the store said she was pregnant but i didnt know. i also have a male in the tank with another female.

if you have a male then if she isn't pregnant she will be, good to see the 2 females to 1 male

ya i was reading up on them before i got them and i saw that its better to have 2 females a one male in the tank so the male isnt always chasing the one female

Blimey thats in depth! Good answer, i agree that it is early stages for this platy, VERY early.

Ignore what these people say as most of the time they dont know swat! Eg, "This is an upside down fish" - "Umm no, this fish is actually dead!"

I can see why you say that as she really does not look pregnant, but seeing there is a male in the tank, she will practically always be pregnant.
