Hi there and welcome to the forum :) .
This is basically what a pregnant and non-pregnant female platy looks like(pregnant one being the top one);

You should really have 2-3females per male if you are going for a mixed gender group, how many gallons is the tank :) ?

iam not quire sure i never expected a baby right away so i had to go buy a large plastic bowl that i could use temporarily. and thank u so much for the picture but that didnt really look like my fish.....so maybe its not a platy --__--;; but it does reseble it ....i think mine is alittle more thinner and longer...but iam sure it is one of the livebearing fish...and how long does it take platies to go through delivery ???? tahnz again

Keep in mind they do come in different colors. That's just one basic variation. It might be a Variatus Platy. They look like this:

(Well, that's my male, but the female looks like a fatter version of that...keep in mind they too, have color variations)

Otherwise, it might be a Swordtail. Does the male have an extension on the bottom of his tail?

For the baby...assuming you have a regular tank you put the Platies in, try to get a breeder net. Most LFS will have them, and then you can grow the baby up a bit, and he can still get filtered and heated water. I'd suggest you read the pinned topics too. :) Oh yes, and Platies can take up to a week to finish having their babies, but it's usually within 12-36 hours.

thanks so much....but its been a day and only one baby. .... i think i did bring another fishes baby.

probably when she was catching the fish with the net she also caught the baby. oh and i found out that my fish is not a platy ...--__--;; it is a Poecilia reticulata...or guppy as many ppl call em. also wut to few days old fry look like???? i think the one i have looks to old to be a few days old...so once again i probably brought home some other fishes baby ...sadly :sad: :D

The size of them depends. Some of them are pretty big, and some of them are smaller. Usually like little rice grains with eyes though. You may have brought home another fish's fry, but if you want to keep him alive, you'll need to get him in a filtered/heated tank. :) It's not that sad though. If you have a female, you'll have fry within a month. By the way, you also need to get 1-2 more females. This is because males are mating machines, and will stress one female out very much, trying to constantly mate with her. 2-3 spreads the aggression out.
