So i have had her since March and she has always been fat, and grew progressively fatter, then it turned dark int eh back id say about 4 weeks ago. the first month i had her the two males i got with her would not leave her alone so i assumed she was pregnant and being impregnated. But i have not seen her drop any fry since I've owned her, her belly has not squared up, it is the most square that i have seen it yet right now though, and she has been secluding herself in the plants and behind the filter tube lately...

Well yes it's pregnant but their not mollies, their infact platies. and nice looking one's at that

She looks like she's got a week to 10 days though.

Well, Petsmart is stupid, so I'm not surprised. I'm sure she'll drop fry within the week.

Good luck! :good:

is it normal that she waited so long after i purchased her to drop fry? could she have been stressed and aborted previous litters?

Most likely. My females actually almost never drop their fry, but I found out that was because of an internal parasite. She look pretty healthy, though in the first pic her fins are clamped. (Which could mean stress, disease, etc.)

She also looks a little over-fed.

Good luck!

ok thank you, yeah shes been clamping up when ever the males start to swim near and bug her but when shes off int eh corner she is calm and relaxed.
And actually i have been having trouble getting them to eat at all. The AC in my office broke unfortunately on the first week of actual hot weather so they had a bit of a hard time that week and they are just getting acclimated back to normal tank temperatures.

Thank you for your help!

Yes, no problem! Yes, females definitely clamp up when they are close to males. Males are normally the biggest stress to them. But be careful - if your females are too stressed out, they can get disease, and/or abort their fry.

Good luck!

 well the advice was good but my fish were poached over the weekend at work when the power went out and the ac stopped working
prayers out to all my poor little fishes :rip:
