hey all, i have a black molly that i noticed was just sitting on the bottom of the tank, and shes been in the tank for a couple of months with some other femals, and a male, so she might be pregnant, but i was just woundering if this was a sign that shes about to give birth, or if shes sick, bc none of my other females are like this, they are swimming around like normal. any help would be nice. and my water levels on nitrate and nitrite are both at zero, if that makes any difference.

thanks

This could be a possibility. Are there plants for her to hide among? Is she using them?

Water parameters?

yes, there are plenty of plants, to many actually, the lfs had a sale on some the other day, so i got a few to take home and put in my main tank, and what do you mean by water parameters? the temp is 82-84 most of the time, nitrate, and nitrite are at 0, the hardness is normal, alkalinity is moderate, and ph is 7.2, or so says the test strips, lol

This must be a brand new tank then, seeing as how you should have at least some nitrates...

Is that the case?

And the temp should be lower, 78F, really. Otherwise the fish gestate too quickly and the fry might be uinderdeveloped. not to mentioned their metabolisms speeding up.

the tank is some what new, about 2 and a half months now, but i did have someone high nitrates, but when i put the plants in about 3 weeks ago, they went down to zero, and havent gone up that much at all.

is your molly laying on its side because i have had a male molly laying on his side then died later that week

well it wasnt on its side, but it ended up dieing, damn fish, lol, guess ill have to go get another female on now, lol.
