Here I have a couple of my mollies and i was wondering if they are pregnant, because i have never had any fish have babies. If so should I take them out now or a little later, because i play on buying a small tank for the pregnant fish. ( i think i have 2 but these are pics of the same one).

That's a Platy, and it's hard to tell from the picture. Does she have a gravid spot (dark spot near where her stomach joins the tail)?

well to be honest i can't get a good glance, but compared to the other platys i have, her stomach is greatly inlarged and i dought its from overfeeding.

well i got her about 2 weeks ago, but i cant tell if the others are males. I have two other ones, one who looks pregnant and one who is quite normal judging in size. Also, I was planning on putting her in her own seperate tank, but will she eat the fry, if so do you think i should continue in putting her in a small tank?

macro, please be more specefic im not too knowledgable on these type of things.

Macro is a setting on the camera used so you can focus on close up things. If you have a dial you can turn to go to different settings, it's usually a little flower.

I'd say she's possibly pregnant...not far along though.

She may eat the fry, but if you add in some floating plants and hiding, you should be good.

A setting on the camera that will allow it focus on objects close up.

Ok I didn't try it but its ok. Now I was wondering, should I set up a net in the tank, but i personally would prefer to set up a fry tank. If i do would i need a filteration system?? How big of a tank should I get?? Should i just feed them sharply cut flake???

Check out the pinned topics, they should answer most of your questions. And there are Livebearer FAQs too. :)

Thank you so much Anna, just one last question. If I put my platty in a seperate tank when its ready to give birth, will this stress it out. I plan on putting it in the tank that I will raise my fry in.

It shouldn't. Just put her in a few days before she is expected to give birth, so she has some time to settle in. Plants/hiding places are always great for giving her a secure feeling too. :)

Well thanks alot. I took a closer look at my Platy's seem to have bigger bell's, but with dark spots on them. I am hoping that they are all pregnant, and I would really like to fill up the new small tank im getting for the fry. I got these platys about 2 weeks ago, and they were all with males and other females, so I guess the males fertilized all most of the females that were there.
