i bort 2 mollies like a month ago, a week after having them , i woke up one morning getting ready to go to school and some little fry are swimming around :/ so i ask my mum if after school we can get a holder for them, anyway i go home, there all gone , probably eaten, and now, one of my mollies is realy fat were as the other is very slim , i am sure they are male and female , but cant be certain and can tell if my 'female' is pregnant, anybody want to help me identify male / female and if its pregnant

Thanks

The anal fin is the easiest way to tell male/female. Males will have a pointed anal fin, and females will have a fan-shaped one. For pregnancy, the easiest way to tell is how fat they are. :p However, on some colored Mollies, you can see a darkish gravid spot. The gravid spot should appear right above the anal fin, about where the tummy meets the tail.

However, if you do have 1 male and 1 female, you need to get at least one more female. The ideal ratio is 2-3 females per male, so one female doesn't get overly stressed by the male. What size tank do you have these guys in?

That female is going to die very soon with all those fish in that tank, never mind the male molly, but the stress of the other maybe 20 larger fsh you have in there will make her abort her fry or even she may die.

You are aware that you will need to get them a bigger tank eventually? Mollies can get to 4", and 2-4 of those fish aren't going to be that happy in a 10 gallon. :/ Do you know what sexes you have yet?

i no i no but i have friends ect who would like some

im rehoming some like i said... i want mollies more thqan anything, theyre really cool :D

Thanks Corpsefish. As you can see, I spend my whole life in the Livebearer section. :p

my fish own yours - You NEED to get rid of a lot of those fish. As mentioned, the female will get extremely stressed being in a tank like that. She may abort fry, have birthing troubles, or even die. Also, with all the fish in there, you must be doing water changes everyday to keep the water stats right! What were your latest readings?

Edit: Okay, you are re-homing. While you are doing that, you might want to get rid of the Mollies since they need a bigger tank, or get at least a 20 gallon for them. :)
