Is My Heater Broken?

It's not keeping a warm enough temp despite me putting it up on the dial. It's staying at 23 no matter what. It's been like this for 2 days, the light is on and it's warm to the touch at the bottom. I don't know if I should buy another as it feels to cold for my Betta.

heater watt and tank size pls? if its at 26c and only keep at 23c in this weather time for new one

It's at 30 now and won't go hotter than 23. It's a 25w for a 21 litre tank

I reckon you should get a new heater just to play it safe. My tank is 120liters with a 50w heater, what ever I set it to, thats what the temperature will go up to. If you have it maxed out and it's only going up to 23[sup]o[/sup]C then I would get a new heater. They aren't overally expensive and it will put your mind at rest.

Yeah just bought one, do you think my betta will be ok till it comes

yep that broke all right, the betta will be fine at the temp for a few days just keep on eye the temp that it doest swing and boil him

If you want to bring the temperature up slightly. But boiling water into a jam jar, put the lid on then place that in the tank. We had a power cut for 24hours because they wanted to do maintence work on the power station and all of the fish survived no problem.

boiling water and glass is not a great idea as the jar was not made for such temps. not saying it wont work just be carfull a shattered jar will be a nightmare to pick out in a tank

I went and bought a new heater just now. A bit more expensive thhan on ebay but tbh I didn't want to wait as the temp went down to 22.

Had I of known you were buying one anyway I wouldn't have sent you my only spare heater

My sister actaully bought it for me and dropped it up when she brought my niece up. I was worried about my Betta being so cold. I can post your heater back to you if you like with the broken one I bought from you.

Its fine chuck the broken one and keep the other as a spare
