Hi all

I've just sen one of my female guppies looking like she is about to die.

She is swimming with her nose down and tail in the air. She also has a very large belly. She can't swim very well and sits on the bottom of the tank.

I've moved her into a breading chamber/quartine unit for close inspection.

She is also heavy breathing.

My test results are 0 amonia, 0 nitrIte, 0-10 NitrAtes, PH ~ 8
The PH worries me a bit but all the other fish are fine.

can Any one help me?
Thank you

Sorry for your loss, R.I.P.

Sorry :( I just wanted to let you know that a pH of 8 is absolutely fine so don't try to change it. :)

Does anyone know why?

I don't want to lose any more.

Was the large belly due to her being pregnant.

Could it have been dropsy? Fish get very swollen bellies with dropsy, their scales also protrude to be honest the best way I can describe dropsy it the fish looks a bit like a pinapple or fir cone.
Sorry I can't be of any more help than this.

I'm not too sure.

I thought she may be pregnant but was uncertian.
She was not like a pinapple or fir cone.

I'm really unclear why she died.

The only thing i can say is she was swollen and she could not swim.
Her tail was in the air and her side fins were waggling about like she was trying to swin and correct herself.

Any ideas?

Sounds like swim bladder if she was bloated and couldn't swim, there wasn't much you could of done for her i'm afraid, as once the desease has progressed it unlikely to be cured.

Whats the chance of any toher fish getting it?

Is it contagous or not?

Should i treat the tank with something? if so what?
