Don't know what the species type is .... so I took a photo !

DSC01629.jpg

The (male) one seems fine ........ but the female one ......... when she swims .... sometimes she'll go slightly sideways ? as in ...... not swimming in a straight line .....

I have had them both for about a week ?

any ideas appreciated .......

Thanks !

Sounds like swim bladder problems, is the fish slightly bloated, what have you been feeding the fish, try some shelled peas and daphnia, good luck.

Hmm ... I spoke to the guy from the shop I bought them ... and he reckons that it could be she is flirting with the male ! or alternativley .... trying to tell the male she is not interested !

:look:

Peas won't do any harm anyway as it will flush her through, as she probably was only fed dried foods at the lfs.

Is she just doing this when the male is near then, as if she is displaying to him?

Sounds like a display thing as well as most fish do this. Have you only got the two? I believe they like to be in groups but that depends on other tank mates and the size of the tank.

Yes, it's just the two that I have .............. I think she is just displaying to the male really ..... from the sounds of it!

They look like black ruby barbs to me and i have 2 of them. They do exactly the same and i think it's a mating thing. I did have 3 but one died recently with the prob i have with my tank, which still hasn't been identified :/
