I finally got round to setting my tank (200l fluval Roma) up today (moving house sure is a lot of work) but I am a bit baffled by my filter.

It is a Fluval U4 internal filter. I read and followed the instructions to the letter, but when I plugged it in, it doesn't appear that anything is happening. I have tried it on the spray bar setting and both the upper and lower settings but I can't *see* any water movement coming from either of the holes or the spray bar corresponding to the setting.

Should I be able to see movement? And if I should, does this mean my filter is a duff or have I just missed something? I have a horrible feeling that it is going to be duff, I was actually considering not using the internal and just getting an external filter but decided to see how I get on with this one. It will be sods law if it turned out not to work now.

Maybe I am not meant to see anything, but for some reason I expected to and from the drawings in the instructions it *looks* like you should see something.

I bought the tank (filter came with it) new from Seapets at the beginning of April.

Please help a noob with her silly question. :D

(pics will follow btw - as will my fishless cycle diary, which I am going to sit down and figure out tomorrow - thought I would leave it for tonight as I only finished fiddling with the tank at about 2:30am and decided I had better head of to bed :D)

The spraybar on those doesn't make for a lot of obvious water disruption to the naked eye, but if you put your hand in front, you should be able to feel the output.

Yeah put your hand in the water and feel underneath the spray bar and you should feel water movement.
