just got home from work to discover my beta on the bottom of the tank
he is really gasping and when he moves the only motion he got it is to flip and fold himself in half

he is about 2 years old and has had a lump on his side for about 4 months now

all other fish are fine and my water is fine as i just done a change 3 days ago

is there any thing i can do if not whats the most humane way of putting him to sleep

thanks in advance

What kind of lump? have you tried any treatments yet?

not sure what the lump is
i have put him a nursery net with a air line and he seams to have a bit more life and not gasping as much
i just tested my water the results are

PH 7.6
NH3 0.25
NO3 0
NO2 0

I havent any meds in the house. I live in the UK can you recomend anything

don't have much experience with these, but normally a bump/lump is usually something wrong and i would not be surprised if this is causing its behaviour-try identifying this lump of the disease pages on this site

If you can get a picture of the lump that would help, why are your nitrates 0? I've noticed a lot of people with 0 nitrates lately :S
