Hiya all,

I have 3 angelfish - A gold one I have had for about 6 or 7 months (looks fully grown but not the 'mass' of the BIG ones) and two I have had for about 2 months (look adolescent) one black, one silver.

No-one is paired up yet - either ended up with 3 females or the other two are still too young.

The older angelfish (Gold one) keeps laying eggs up the side of the filter - then guards them relentlessly against anything and everything that comes near... including both me and the other two angels!
After a few days they all turn white and soon after they are gone...no doubt eaten

A few weeks pass and then off she goes again - lays eggs but wont let either of them near them (as I say, not that it looks like any of them are paired)

Isnt that a bit wierd - surely she should only lay eggs after forming a pair?
Or what I cant help but find wierder is she lays eggs and then fights off the other two angels to the point of some nasty nips!

Anyone have any ideas whats going on?

That's not too unusual for a female with no mature males present. The fact that she is spawning indicates good care, as healthy fish that are happy with their environment are the ones that breed.

Well its good to know that she is happy and healthy. :)

We will just have to hope one of these yound ones is a male.... I need an excuse to buy another tank...... (or two hehehe)
Many thanks for the reply.
:)

Same with mine. Lays eggs but I don't think my other is paired with the female. Anyways I don't think your angel is crazy, unless mine is :shout:
