At what age can Angel's get pregnant?

I have a baby angel, about the size of a 10 cent peice and she has gradually grown a swollen belly.

Is this a sign she is pregnant, or is she still to young?

Her partner died last week of fin rot, he was only the same size.

Well actually to tell the truth, I dont know if he was a male of female, I didnt know she was a female until I saw the swollen tummy, so maybe she got pregnant at the LFS.

Is she going to be ok to raise these babies alone? Or would she have been better off with her partner being alive?

Thanks.

Rhiannon

she is probably to small to be full of eggs, if we are going by an american dime.
and no, she isnt pregnant, as angels arent livebearers.
im sorry to hear about ur other angel, its always depressing to lose a fish.

As said above.......Angels are not livebearers so will not be full of babies.......particularly not at the size you say she/he is.

I would be concerned for the health of this Angel to be honest.........it could well be a health problem causing the swelling, particularly with the problems you say you had with its "partner".

The questions to look at are:

What tank are they in and what/how are the water parameters.....?

How long have you had them?

What else is in the tank......and how is it doing?

Good luck though.........

I will go try. She is pretty zippy and fast, so I will try and catch one.

And if she is sick, I am going to cry. She is beautiful.

Other fish in there are 3 guppies and 1 bristlenose, and no she hasnt tried to eat the guppies, she is to small, she plays with them instead.
