so could it mean although i have only female mollies, they could still keep having fry for up to 6 months without the presence of a male??

yes its true! i brought 3 female platys and the had quite a few sets of fry and i have no male livebearers, i know it was the same platy cos i was prepared

I read from one mating the female can store the sperm to use for a further 6 - 7 broods of fry.

Pretty clever stuff i think!

wow thats impressive. so i should keep an eye out then as they could have more fry? eek!

Yup as i was told when buyiong livebearers 99% of the time they are already preggers.

I personally dont make to much effort. I have males and females. When they have fry i leave nature to do its thing. When they feel safe/are bigger they come out of hiding and join the other fish.

Have never bothered with a breeding trap. In my eyes if they get eaten, it just wasnt meant to be.

Good luck with the fry tho as its very exciting! Watiching them grow is sooo cool.

yep very true indeed, on another note, mollies sometimes tend to carry there fry longer than the other common livebearers
