in my 67 gallon malawi tank i still got some "flicking" going on, fish rubbing themselves against the sand sometimes, its been set up about 8-weeks now, water paramteters are cool (yes they good (good enoough).... 0 Ammonia, 0 Nitrite and about 50-60 nitrate, pH 7.8-8.0 and temp 78)

i heard Malawi "often" do this anyway?

cant see any disease on their body and they have reduced doing it over last 8-weeks but still do it sometimes,

is it a "terrortory" thing or are they being "bugged" by a parasite?

about 2 weeks ago i did a course of Flubenol for flukes, not made much difference (had some of this meds and i know the guy or one of the guys thats markets it) has worked a treat on a previous fluke problem and also internal parastite problem for me

For reference, on average, if i watched tank for 10 mins, i would see about 1 or 2 "flicks" per minute from a variety of fish

Perfectly normal for most cichlids, especially Mbuna - usually a sign of aggression or part of a mating ritual and sometimes just for fun. :hyper:

Yup, scared the crap out of me when I first got mine, thought they all had ich.

Once everyone works out their pecking order, they probably won't flick as often, though they'll still do it occasionally.
