Is It Time To Prune?

Well I have a new established tank, the plants have been growing for about almost 3 months, my other plant has gone out of control im not to sure what it is called though and I have had to prune it twice the parts I pruned propeated well which is good.

anyway my question is, the plant that is in the picture, should it be pruned? the leaves are starting to hit the surface. If so how do i do this?

and what type of plant is it?

I dont use CO2 or anything as you could probably tell just seachem flourish.

any help would be appreciated

Hi, The type of plant is what i belive to be some type of Hydrophillia, not 100% on it though, regarding pruning, its partly your choice as to when, if you like the plant draping abit on the water surface the obviously keep it like that, i do-depending on plant, although, i would trim that, and seen as its hit the surface its ready, i like to think that my stems should be grown about 3/4 up the tank, so, you can trim down to that, or further and wait for it to grow back up-which often looks very nice with new heads on the stem..

try and trim the plants with a sharp pair of scissors at the point where the two leaves are on each node.

I used to have this plant in my tank, unsure of the name but it does create a really nice canopy at the top of the water if left to grow.

well I might let it grow for a few more months see how it goes,

i really like it. i would like some smaller plants to put near the bogwood

any suggestions?

E.tennellus
Marselia species.
hairgrass.

i really like to look of hair grass, but am unsure how my yoyos and bristlenose would cope with it

would they dig it up?

if i plant it should i leave it in its punnet?
